Once you complete the first liberation you can send all rebels there to the "suuply" job, which will give you a bit more of a steady income.Īs for Dark Events: they are a way of scaling the enemies to make sure they still pose a challenge later in the game, so the game is balanced around all the permanent DEs to be active in the end. Outside of that you will be a bit short on supplies, so you have to prioritize what you want to spend the supplies on. HQ Assaults (#5 of the liberation chain).Doing these will increase your standing with the resistance factions which will then unlock additional covert actions. Once the Chosen show up you will get covert ops to find them, just like in the normal game. The Chosen show up once you complete the "Network Tower" mission for the first time, which is the 4th mission in the liberation chain - if you have the Chosen enabled (check your game/difficulty settings).
XCOM LONG WAR MOD
Sadly, I have very little time these days for gaming in general, and XCOM specifically, but I am thoroughly captivated by the LWOTC development and look forward to every new update.ĭownload the mod and join the Discord!!! RIP some Rookies!!! If you are interested in a new XCOM experience and are not playing /u/Ucross amazing Long War Rebalance you should absolutely check this out. I've been running two campaigns, one without mods, and one with, and both have been fun as hell. In my opinion LWOTC really pushes the XCOM franchise forward, the blending of the LW2 missions, classes, weapons, officers, and squad mechanics, coupled with the performance increases and new content from WOTC smooth out some of the tactical quirks, while the strategy game gets a fresh new coat of paint and lays the foundation for some really cool modifications. Take it all with a grain of salt, but in a very general way it should help you remember some key LW2 mechanics.
XCOM LONG WAR UPDATE
Some of the information is bit dated (I didn't update for 1.5) but the gist of the document should still help you get your sea-legs. This is the Unofficial Guide that I created for LW2 when it launched. There are some Streamers currently playing LWOTC campaigns, you should subscribe and throw them a thumbs up:
XCOM LONG WAR MODS
I can't wait to bring Advent Avenger, RealityMachine, Robojumper, DerBk and Musashi's mods, and the additonal faction mechanic into the my load order (just to name a few of the amizing mods out there). Here are the mods that I am currently beta testingĬommunity maintained compatibility list here: (community-maintained) Here are the mods that I am currently running with LWOTC Read the documentation and take your damn time, you will only need to follow these steps once so get it right the first time.
XCOM LONG WAR INSTALL
If you are serious about your XCOM2 experience download and install the Alternate Mod Launcher. LWOTC Troubleshooting Discord located here There are plans slowly developing for more involved changes ala Long War Rebalance but that is a ways off.Ī Pavonis hosted LWOTC forum is located here The changes to LW2 design are minimal and the current development philosophy is to limit changes mainly to bugfixes and minor tweaks as they slowly integrate the two experiences. If you liked LW1 and/or LW2, and enjoyed at least some of the mechanics of WOTC then the work that /u/paledbrook and his compatriots have done should really get you excited. It seems pretty obvious to say but if you didn't have fun with these versions of XCOM separately the combination will not result in a sudden awakening in you. The LW2 environment is relatively untouched, and its merger with the WOTC world of the Chosen is challenging to say the least. The merging of WotC and LW2 creates a classic XCOM environment filled with incredible successes and terrifying failures, so if you get easily frustrated with XCOM mechanics it definitely will be hard for you to overcome the increased pressures of LWOTC. Spoiler alert if LW2 wasn't your cup of tea skip this post and LWOTC, seriously.
XCOM LONG WAR FULL
Currently the LWOTC Beta is in full swing, there have been several posts here on Reddit and there is pretty lively discord discussion here so I'm making this post to provide a basic introduction to anyone interested in what is turning out to be an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable XCOM experience. It has been a while since you returned to the battle, and despite XCOM's best efforts the alien menace has continued to grow.
